A body found inside a burned vehicle in Windsor, S.C. is the focus of an Aiken County law enforcement investigation.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a burned vehicle on Boggy Gut Road about a mile off Williston Road, according to an email from Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

When they arrived on the scene, the deputies discovered the burned remains of a person inside the vehicle.

“The victim had sustained severe thermal injuries, due to the extent of the
thermal injuries the race or sex of the victim could not be immediately determined. The victim will be autopsied tomorrow morning in Newberry,” the email said “The Coroner’s Office along with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are continuing with the investigation.”
