Army Cyber Command changes command at Fort Gordon

Date: December 04, 2025

U.S. Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER) has changed command, as of Wednesday.

ARCYBER’s fifth general, Lt. Gen. Maria Barrett, whose 37 years of service has included roles as deputy commander of operations with U.S. Cyber Command’s (USCYBERCOM), Cyber National Mission Force and commander of the Army’s Network Enterprise Technology Command, relinquished her command to Lt. Gen. Christopher Eubank, who most recently served as the Chief of Staff of United States Strategic Command.

The transition was formalized in a Change of Command ceremony, Wednesday afternoon, in the Juniper Ballroom of Fort Gordon’s Cyber Conference and Catering Center.

Barrett, who assumed command of ARCYBER at Fort Gordon in 2022, said in her address to attendees that her primary emotion amid leaving her command is “gratitude,” lauding her colleagues and saying that the Cyber Command’s intricate structure and increasing capabilities are underpinned by a “village of experts.”

“Three and a half years ago, we said in our vision, we set out to be a data center command. The foundations were already in place with our big data platform, but we knew we needed to keep pressing faster,” said Barrett. “[In] our journey with data, we’ve moved from probably less than middle of the road maturity to completing the implementation of common data schema Across a heterogeneous global infrastructure. Not easy, but absolutely essential.”

Eubank, who has served in the Army since 1991 and has as storied career that includes eight deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, presented kudos and well-wishes to Gen. Barrett and her family—who are to be moving to her native Massachusetts — saying he intends to continue what she started.

“I believe that in the cyberspace domain, we are in constant contact with our adversaries, we must be ready when called upon to fight and win through the cyberspace domain,” Eubank said in his address. “I’m confident that you will continue to operate, defend, attack, inform and influence when called upon, without fail, I will give you 100% every day so that you have what you need to ensure mission success.”
