Pexcho’s American Dime Museum recently announced that it was rated number one museum by the Georgia Business Journal.
Owner Peter Excho opened the venue, devoted to exhibiting historical sideshow oddities and art, in 2019. One of its most recent exhibits is the “World’s First 2-Headed T-Rex.”
Excho was inspired by the original American Dime Museum in Baltimore, Md., which closed in 2006.
The Georgia Business Journal released its Best of Georgia list Friday, showcasing a wide variety of enterprises throughout the state that the public has voted for via the publication’s website. Under “Arts and Entertainment,” Pexcho’s can be seen under Best of Georgia’s regional winner winners for museums.
City club and networking center 10Twenty-Eight has had a busy season, having had its ribbon-cutting ceremony in October and participating in the Small Business Saturday shopping crawl last month.
On Wednesday the entrepreneurial hub hosted a Building Better Credit class, open to its members and a paid event to the general public. This is one of several social and networking events offered to budding business owners; on Dec. 16, it will host its monthly “Thumping Thursdays” mixer for entrepreneurs, which will feature music by Bill Karp Jazz. The following evening, it will open its lounge to medical professionals for its “Complimentary Happy Hour.” Military servicemembers, young professionals and educators are also offered their own happy hour events on different dates.
The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce will host the groundbreaking ceremony for the Jud. C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer’s Care on Tuesday. The nonprofit program cares sufferers of Alzheimer’s and addresses its symptoms via exercise and mental stimulation. The center is currently located at 1901 Central Ave., but the groundbreaking ceremony will be at the center’s upcoming location at 105 Lutheran Dr. at 10 a.m.
