Arrest made in Old Warrenton Studies shooting

Authorities have arrested Jason Owen, 25, of Akron, Ohio, in connection with a shooting Friday, Jan. 7 at Old Warrenton Studios on Ranger Road in Warren County.

Owen is charged with one count of reckless conduct and is being held at the McDuffie County Jail in Thomson, according to a press release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The Victim, Joseph Eckert, 21, or Marietta, Ga., was taken to University Hospital McDuffie Friday night with a leg wound. He is being treated for his injuries at a medical facility in Augusta, according to the Georgia Bureau of investigation.

Preliminary information revealed that Owen and Eckert were participants in a live role play event that was taking place at Old Warrenton Studios. A group identified as Chernobyl Milisim had rented the studio to produce a video for their YouTube channel that involved at least 20 participants. The shooting incident occurred prior to any filming and only involved Owen and Eckert. The investigation is ongoing.
