Augusta’s 911 Emergency Communications Center has been recognized by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, or IAED, as an Accredited Center of Excellence for emergency fire dispatching. It’s the 70th Fire ACE in the world and the first standalone 911 center in Georgia to achieve the designation, according to a news release.
IAED accreditation is the highest distinction given to emergency communication centers, the release said, and certifies the center is performing at or above established standards.
“Achieving this accreditation is a testament to the hard work, dedication and professionalism our staff display as they do their best to prepare for citizens’ worst day,” said Augusta E911 Director Daniel Dunlap “I am grateful to serve alongside highly-trained and skilled professionals committed to being experts in emergency fire dispatching.”
Christof Chwojka, accreditation board chair for the International Academies said the recognition is a pinnacle achievement. “We applaud the dedicated calltakers, dispatchers, and leadership team at Augusta, Georgia’s E911 Emergency Communications Center for their commitment to quality,” Chwojka said.
Accreditation, which is valid for three years, reflects completion of 20-point evaluation and review by experts. Department representatives will travel to the IAED Navigator Conference in Denver next month to receive the award.
