Play was suspended at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday due to thunderstorms in the area. The gates will be reopened to the public at 1:45 p.m. ET and the final round will resume at 1:50 p.m. ET.
The delay should have given the leaders time to regroup after a challenging start to the round. Zhang and Lignell both shot four over par after just seven holes. Zhang racked up one double bogey and three bogeys dropping her lead from -13 to -9.
Starting in second place Andrea Lignell struggled in her Augusta National debut. On the first 7 holes she dropped to third place after two bogeys and one double bogey.
Meanwhile Jenny Bae who started the day in third place closed the gap with Zhang to only 3 shots. The remaining players five shots or more the top three.
Bae is a student at the University of Georgia and is making her second Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance.
