Twenty-one artists, 21 different perspectives, one art exhibition.

“Scenes of Augusta and Sacred Heart is the theme of a unique exhibition that opens with a reception from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 24 in Sacred Heart Cultural Center’s great hall.

“This is a way for us to get different artists to show their work of Augusta and Sacred Heart,” said Kim Overstreet, a spokesperson for Sacred Heart.

Art exhibitions are regular occurrences at the historic venue, but they typically involve multiple pieces from one or two artists. Often these exhibitions are up for about a month.

This show has a limited engagement. Works will be on an easel in the great hall during the reception, then they will move to the art hall until Sept. 3. The art hall is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Artists include Laurie Algar, Rebecca Anchor, Rhonda Bryce, Jane Cashin, Fox Si-Long Chen, Baillie Conway, Michael Drake, Alex Foltz, Panny Force, Katie Gary, Delaney Gay, Vicki Greene, Jeff Huff, Clark Lingenfelter, Michael Meissner, Bernard Roberts, Wayne Schultz, Rhian Swain, Ana Thompson, Joan Vanover and Donna Whaley.

Besides having a shorter run with more artists, this exhibition hinges on an exact theme.

Overstreet said it’s exciting to see what the artists have done with the theme.

“It celebrates Sacred Heart and the great city we live in, and lets us see artistically through the eyes of other people,” she said.

A few other art exhibitions around town are scheduled to come down by month’s end.

Heather Rene Dunaway’s “Generations” art show will be on display during the month of August at 4P Studios, 3927 Roberts Rd., Martinez. “Of Different Worlds” featuring the artwork of HAM and Payasa will be at the 600 Broad Gallery through month’s end.
