Burke County man pleads guilty in child pornography case

William Voss

Date: December 02, 2021

U.S. District Court Chief Judge J. Randall Hall has sentenced William Voss, 38, of Waynesboro, Ga., to 121 months in federal prison for possession of hundreds of images of child pornography.

In addition to time in prison, Voss will be required to register as a sex offender and serve 25 years of supervised release upon completion of his sentence.

Voss was dishonorably discharged from the United States Navy previously after he was court-martialed for possessing pornographic images of children.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents were contacted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in May 2020 when they became aware of contraband images originating from a Burke County residence belonging to Voss.

A subsequent investigation led to the seizure of devices in the home containing hundreds of images of child pornography.

“In coordination with our law enforcement partners, our office will continue to relentlessly protect our most vulnerable citizens,” said Acting U.S. Attorney David H. Estes. “Predators like Voss will be identified and held accountable for their crimes.”
