Column: Hate for Israel is irrational and demonic

The challenges facing Jews worldwide are the result of two half-brothers fighting over an inheritance.

God promised Abraham that He would make a great nation from his descendants and that all nations of the Earth would be blessed through him. Scripture shows us that Abraham tried to help God out due to his wife’s age, resulting in an illegitimate child with Haggar. That child was named Ishmael and would become the father of Islam. Later Abraham received the son that God promised him, Issac, who would go on to father the nation Israel. Both men would be the fathers of mighty nations, but only through Jacob would the world be blessed. That blessing was ultimately realized through Jesus, a Jew, who came to bless ALL NATIONS with the offer of forgiveness and salvation.

Despite salvation coming through Jesus via the Jewish nation, the world has always, and always will, hate Israel. The hatred stems from spiritual blindness and demonic influence.

Scripture teaches that being God’s chosen nation came with its unique challenges. When Israel revolted against God’s commands, he chastised them by using other nations. This can be seen by the dramatic population decline from King David’s census estimated by scholars to be around five million to the 42,360 who returned from the Babylonia exile.

Fast forward to Word War II when there were approximately 17 million Jews world wide. Following the Holocaust, Jewish population figures were estimated as low as 11 million and have remained relatively flat since.

There are still fewer Jews in the world today than before the Holocaust.

The only plausible explanation for hatred seen today towards Israel is demonic influence.

That might sound outlandish to many, but those who believe the Bible know that Israel has an important role to play in the end times. Here are a few facts the Bible teaches about Israel’s role in the end times.

  1. The nation of Israel must exist. This is why the return to the Holy Land after WWII was the largest step forward in biblical prophecy in 2,000 years.
  2. Israel will sign a significant peace treaty. Trump’s negotiating of treaties between Israel and Qatar and UAE was a huge step towards peace in the Middle East. A treaty that normalizes relations with Saudi Arabia would be a huge step in that direction. A potential treaty with Saudi Arabia was one of the main reason Hamas launched its attack against Israel when it did.
  3. A remnant of Jews will convert to Christianity (144,000) and lead a worldwide revival. These Jewish converts are effectively Christian evangelists who will led what many believe will be largest soul harvest in history.
  4. At the end of the seven year Tribulation period, the remaining Jews who have not converted to Christianity will do so prior to the Second Coming and return of Jesus.
  5. The Christian Jews will rule along with the Gentile Christians for 1,000 years in a period known as the Millennial Kingdom. The Jews will finally have peace and stability in their land and will rule the other nations with Jesus and King David as the head of their government.

Satan knows what the Bible says about Israel and its role in the end times. It shouldn’t come as a surprise when he tries to destroy Israel; after all, if Israel doesn’t exist, then the end times can’t happen the way Scripture says they will. Satan tried to wipe out Israel with the Assyrians, Babylonians, Romans and the Nazi’s. All attempts brought death and destruction upon Israel but ultimately failed.

The United States was founded as a Christian nation and her founding fathers held to a Judeo-Christian ethic. That framework led to the United States being a friend of Israel, a trend that has continued until recent months. I fear that as America turns her back on Israel, she will be the recipient of wrath from God almighty.

The craziness seen on the college campuses was interesting to watch.

Why would college kids from the so called “elite colleges” hate Jews? I assume the average American citizen, including college students, lack basic knowledge about Israel, its origin, its ethnic makeup and its role in God’s sovereign plan. These college students are either having their rebellious moment having latched onto the issue of the day, or they are truly blind to the truth of what is going on in the Middle East.

The radical Muslim terrorist group Hamas would murder most of these students for their liberal left leaning beliefs given the opportunity. In my opinion, that level of hatred we are seeing surpasses a social justice experiment. The only explanation is  demonic possession and spiritual blindness.

Either way, nobody can deny that the chess pieces are lining up for a confrontation of epic proportions. That fight will have a foothold in the Middle East with Israel at its center. The world will continue to grow in its animosity and hatred of Jews and there isn’t anything Israel or her leaders can do to dissuade it.

Abraham’s mistake and lack of faith in God’s promises resulted in the biggest family feud in the history of mankind. Today, people have a front row seat to the drama as it can be seen playing out on college campuses, missile strikes in the middle east and the bloody invasion by Hamas on Oct. 7 last year. We might not know what the next day of crazy will bring. We know things will continue to get worse, not better. And in the end we know how it is all going to culminate with the return of Jesus.
