Family offers $10,000 reward in Augusta killing outside club

The family of murder victim Kevin Coatney Jr. is offering a $10,000 reward for information to catch the killers.

Coatney was fatally shot in the parking lot of Club 706 on Deans Bridge Road in Augusta on Jan. 30, 2022. Three others were also shot after closing time.

Coatney, 20, died from his injuries and was found a mile away after he was taken to 1814 Fayetteville Drive, authorities said. Charity Anderson, 20,  Katreona Luckie, 23, and Tremaine Johnson, 24, were also shot and rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

Friends of Coatney say he was out celebrating his last night in Augusta, since he had plans to move out of the area to start a new life.

With the reward, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the assistance of the community in identifying the person or persons that murdered Coatney. The reward if offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
