The former elementary school P.E. teacher accused of eight counts of child molestation including an incident where he licked a child’s feet was granted a $38,700 bond Monday.
Caurey Verlon Rollins, 26, hadn’t posted a bond by noon Tuesday, according to jail records. Earlier Monday, Superior Court Judge Amanda Heath set the property or cash bond amount.
His bond conditions are to have no contact with the victims, abide by a curfew and to avoid the alleged incident locations, according to jail records. His address is listed as his parents’ home on Ramblewood Drive. The alleged incident locations were Urban Air Adventure Park and Glenn Hills Elementary School.
The mother of one of the Glenn Hills victims, Tori Durham, said she wished the victims’ parents had been contacted prior to the bond hearing.
“I feel like they should have notified the parents to let them know he was going to be released on bond. We stay in the same city. He has eight counts of sexual assault, and he gets a $38,000 bond. If he was a regular person, that would have never happened, but you have eight and that’s all you get,” Durham said.
Rollins’ bond hearing did not appear in advance on any Monday court calendars. Represented by attorney Keith Johnson, Rollins was taken into custody Friday on a grand jury arrest warrant, according to booking records which list his employer as Glenn Hills Elementary School.
Rollins was indicted by a grand jury April 11 on seven counts of child molestation involving three fourth-grade girls at the school during fall term.
The indictment followed Rollins’ January arrest and indictment for allegedly sucking the toes of a young boy’s feet at the trampoline park.
Rollins was placed on leave by the school system in January and resigned Feb. 11. Glenn Hills parents were informed of his arrest at that time.
