Georgia Bureau of Investigation called to investigate Thomson shooting

Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting Thomson Police Department in the investigation of a shooting that occurred Jan. 5.

At approximately 2:33 p.m., authorities received a call that a man was shot on Bussey Avenue in Thomson.

The victim was later identified as Victor James Franklin, 24, of Thomson.

According to a statement issued by GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Sara Lue, Franklin was traveling on Bussey Avenue when his vehicle was struck by gunfire.

Franklin was transported to Doctors Hospital in Augusta where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

This investigation is ongoing.
