NORTH AUGUSTA – Kadon Morton has been named the Player of the Week in the Carolina League after the Augusta outfielder put together a great series against the Fredericksburg Nationals offensively and defensively.
Morton was the GreenJackets’ best bat during the latest homestand by hitting a team-best .471 over the last week of games which included three doubles, a triple, and a home run while driving in five runs. He finished with a hit in every game including multiple hits in the final two contests on Saturday and Sunday.
But he also made waves with his glove over the past week by collecting four outfield assists with two coming during Saturday’s 9-2 victory. Morton is currently the Carolina League leader in outfield assists with 17.
Kadon Morton is the first GreenJackets’ position player to take home the honors as the Player of the Week in the Carolina League this season.
