“This morning at approximately 0420 hours, the Grovetown Police Department began receiving 911 calls in reference to someone banging on doors in the 9000 blk of Battle Court. Officers from the Grovetown Police Department and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area. While Officers and Deputies were enroute, several more calls were received by dispatch regarding someone banging on doors.  Upon arriving on scene, Officers heard a single gun shot and began a search of the area in an attempt to locate where it came from. While canvassing the area, Officer’s heard a male yelling for help in the rear of a residence on Battle Court. Officers then located a subject (later identified as Mr. Jordan Jackson) suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  Officers then began lifesaving measures on Mr. Jackson and were assisted by arriving Columbia County Deputies as well, until being relieved by Fire Department and EMS personnel.  Mr. Jackson was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

While tending to Mr. Jackson, Officers were approached by a Mr. Jahlil Lawrence who stated that he was the homeowner and resided there with his girlfriend and two small children.  Mr. Lawrence stated that he had fired the shots at Mr. Jackson and another male after observing them on his home security system trying to enter his patio door and a rear window.  Mr. Lawrence stated that the individuals were wearing masks and armed with handguns. A search of the scene revealed a handgun and cellular phone on the ground near the rear window, as well as a discarded mask near where Mr. Jackson was found lying. Mr. Lawrence was able to provide footage from his CCTV system to Investigators which showed what he had described.

While conducting a canvass of the 6000 blk of Reynolds Way, Officers were alerted by a resident to an individual sitting in a parked vehicle bearing South Carolina plates.  Officers then made contact with the occupant, Mr. Demond Livingston, and discovered that he matched the description of the second suspect and was also in possession of a handgun.  Upon being questioned, Mr. Livingston admitted to traveling from Columbia, SC with Mr. Jackson, but provided no further useful details.  The cellular phone found lying in the rear of Mr. Lawrence’s residence was also determined to belong to Mr. Livingston.

Home security footage from several nearby residences on Reynolds Way show Mr. Jackson and Mr. Livingston arriving in the vehicle and exiting with their faces covered and armed with handguns.  Mr. Livingston is also observed running back to the vehicle alone a short time later.
