Grovetown Woman Dies from Weekend Crash on Interstate Ramp

Authorities have released the name of a Grovetown woman who died from injuries suffered in a weekend crash in Richmond County.

Katrina Kelly, 37, died early Saturday at Doctors Hospital after being transported by EMS to the Emergency Room.  Kelly was driving a vehicle on the ramp of I-520 west from Deans Bridge Road when she collided with an abandoned vehicle on the side of the road, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release.

Kelly died from the injuries she received from the crash, the coroner said. Kelly was sent to the GBI Lab for an autopsy.

In an unrelated incident Tuesday, the Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a motorcycle rider due to a crash.  The crash happened in a parking lot of the 2700 block of Mike Padgett Highway, Bowen said.

Charles Randy Bentley, 62, of Ridge Spring., S.C., was killed when the motorcycle he was riding crash into a trailer. Bentley was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday. An autopsy will be done by the GBI.
