The Hawk Law Group in Augusta is continuing its tradition of aiding local families as the holidays approach.

Starting Tuesday, Nov. 7, the law firm kicked off its annual Hawk Helps program that assists needy families by taking the burden off Christmas gift-giving.

“Our mission this holiday season is to lift families who have fallen on hard times by bringing them some Christmas joy,” said managing partner Marion Hawk.

Each year, the group reaches out to the CSRA through social media, inviting the community to nominate a family that has fallen on hard times and needs some help getting presents for children for Christmas.

The law group then selects as many families as possible out of those nominated by the participating public, based on need and resources, typically choosing five families. The attorneys then confer with parents to ensure the children get the presents they need and want.

“As a personal injury firm, we see all year long how unexpected bills and lost wages can cause families to suffer financially after an injury,” said Hawk about why the firm started the charitable initiative, which began in 2020. “We know that this is particularly devastating when these losses happen around the holidays and so seeing the need and have the resources to help, we chose to act.”

Along with supplying Christmas gifts, the Hawk Group has also helped families by buying groceries and paying for utilities.

While its not unusual for businesses to find ways to give back to the community during the Christmas season, Hawk said that the firm’s initiative is a responsibility on its part and a piece of its overall mission to “help and fight for the innocent.”

“Whether they are wrongfully accused or hurt by the negligence of another person, the families of the CSRA have supported us and helped our business to become successful,” he said. “We believe it is our duty to pay it forward and to help others who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own.”

The public can nominate families through Dec. 2, and families will receive their gifts between Dec. 17 – 21. For more information, or to submit a family for nomination, visit www.hawkhelps.com, or www.hawklawgroup.com.
