An Apple a Day is a great way to start the day and recipes made with apples is even better! We had a lot of fun this week on the show continuing with our theme to use Southern ingredients and Southern techniques.

Cooking Down or Stewing apples is the basis for an Apple Chutney that makes an amazing Bruschetta appetizer. The aroma in your kitchen will be out of this world but also don’t forget about the different uses for this recipe: with a Pork Loin, a fried pork chop or on top of a ham steak!! Hopefully I’m tempting you!

Next was a one – pan dish – Pork Chops with Apples and Onions. In all of our quests to get away from the same ole thing, this is especially intriguing for this time of year when Apples are in season in North Georgia, and the sun sets too early in the afternoon! I think this will become a new favorite.

Finally, the Apple Butter Pound Cake uses Adam Apple Butter and it truly steals the show. The batter for this cake is SO wonderful and the center of the cake being the delicious pre-prepared apple butter is quite the WOW factor. The cake bakes up beautifully with a perfect crown and the icing and garnish for the top makes it a must for a gift or a great end to a dinner party.

Be sure to check out Adams Apple Company for a selection of their amazing products.

And in Vera’s Corner this week, presented by TaxSlayer, I show you how to make Apple Chips while all of your favorite apple types are in season.
