The man wanted in a kidnapping incident Feb. 15 is behind bars.
Rahem Laquan Devoe turned himself in without incident around 9:30 p.m. Feb. 18, according to an email from Capt. Eric Abdullah of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. He is He is currently in the Aiken County Detention Center where he is being held on charges of Domestic Violence 1st Degree and Kidnapping.
Around 8:15 p.m. Feb. 15, deputies responded to the gas station located at 5412 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Beech Island for a reported missing child, according to a new release.
Investigators determined that Devoe and the mother of the child had a verbal argument which turned into a physical assault.
Devoe drove away in the victim’s car with Kashous Gordon, 6, in the car. Kashous was later brought back to the gas station. The victim’s car was also found at 4667 Jefferson Davis Hwy.
It was reported that Devoe was armed with a handgun when he drove away from the gas station, the release said.
