Deputies spoke with a witness who told them the two men were fighting over drugs that were located beside the garage door.
After further investigation, deputies recovered a plastic bag next to the garage where they were told drugs would be. They also found a .40 caliber Walther pistol that was determined to be the firearm used in the shooting. It was removed and secured from a white Dodge Ram pickup truck on the scene.
According to Maj. Steve Morris of Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, authorities seized approximately three to four grams of methamphetamine from the plastic bag, and another gram of meth was found on Gilstrap.
Gilstrap was arrested for aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and transported to Columbia County Detention Center, where he is currently awaiting trial.
A $35,300 bond was awarded, but no bail has been posted at this time.
