“Augusta on Display” will feature local government and give Augustans the chance to discuss matters with their elected officials.

The free event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon June 11 at the Robert Howard Community Center, 103 Diamond Lakes Way, Hephzibah.

Takiyah Douse, interim administrator for the city of Augusta, said in a promotional video that Augustans value engagement, information and opportunities to provide suggestions to the local government that benefit them and their community.

“This event is a combination of all of Augusta’s departments and agencies and offices coming together as one Augusta to bring our citizens exactly what they want,” she said.

Inside the community center, various representatives from city departments will be present to answer questions and hear suggestions from people in the area.

“On Saturday, we will turn the Robert Howard Community Center gym into a trade-show style event,” she said.

The local marshal’s office, police department, Augusta judicial system and animal control are a few of the local government offices expected to be present Saturday.

Residents will also have the opportunity to get a close-up view of some of the city’s vehicles.

Danielle Harris, Augusta’s public information manager, said that she is looking forward to the event.

“As a native of Augusta, Georgia…we really believe in what’s happening here at our local government,” said Harris.

Douse said that it’s a family friendly event, and she hopes that everyone in the community will take the time to come.

“I consider community as family,” said Douse.  “We hope you and all of our citizens come out and join us.”
