Over the years, every hole at Augusta National has changed to some degree. For 2023 the only change to the main course is on the Par 5 number 13. The hole is named “Azalea” because there are approximately 1,600 azaleas between the tee and the green. This year, the Masters tees have been moved back 35 yards taking the yard from 510 to 545 yards.
Amen Corner refers to holes 11, 12 and 13 at the back of the course near Rae’s Creek.

The lengthening of No. 13 has been planned for many years. According to the records maintained by the Clerk of Superior Court of Richmond County the Augusta National purchased land from neighboring Augusta Country Club in September 2017. Multiple golf publications reported at the time that the plan was for extending No. 13.
The hole is currently ranked 16th out of 18 in difficulty based on cumulative scoring from 1942 to 2022.
The tee shot sets up the option for the player to either go for the green on the second shot or layup for a third shot to the green.

The green is guarded by a tributary of Rae’s Creek on the front and four bunkers on the rear. The picturesque Nelson Bridge is located on the right side of the green.
In 2022, the Masters tees on No. 11 and 15 were pushed back. No. 11 was extended 15 yards back and to the left and several trees removed from the right side. No. 15 Masters tees were pushed back 20 yards. Both holes also saw the fairways undergo contouring. No. 18 also saw thirteen yards added to the back of the Masters tees but the length of the hole didn’t change.

In addition to the changes to Amen Corner significant renovations were undertaken on the Par-3 course.
