*North Augusta, SC* – The Augusta GreenJackets (Atlanta Braves) were limited to two hits on Wednesday night, falling to the Fredericksburg Nationals (Washington Nationals) 3-0. Fredericksburg (8-11, 38-44) kept Augusta hitless over the final 6.1 innings, while Augusta (9-11, 40-45) squandered a quality start from Tyree Thompson, who went six innings while giving up just one run.

Tyree Thompson made the start for Augusta, his first home start since signing with the Braves this last offseason, and needed just seven pitches to get through the first inning. His opposite starter, #7 overall prospect Jarlin Susana, escaped a two-on, no-out jam in the first, before a pair of two-out hits for the FredNats put the visitors up 1-0 in the top of the second.

Both teams would struggle through with anemic offensive performances henceforth and forevermore. Susana would go five innings while giving up just two hits, and despite issuing four walks the youngster induced three double plays to get out unscathed. Meanwhile, Fredericksburg recorded just two more hits off of Tyree Thompson, but both resulted in outfield assists from Bryson Worrell, who threw out a pair of runners at second base.

Thompson was relieved after six full innings by debutant Giomar Diaz, who worked around a walk and infield single to finish a scoreless inning in his first appearance. Landon Harper entered in the eighth, but surrendered two runs on Paul Witt’s single as the visitors pushed the lead to 3-0. Marquis Grissom Jr. got Augusta in order to record the save on his birthday, as Augusta was held to two hits and no runs on the day. Augusta matched their season high by hitting into four double plays on the night.
