Filipe Azevdeo won Sunday’s IRONMAN 70.3, finishing the triathlon with a time of 3:39:03.

In women’s division, Ellie Salthouse crossed the finish line with a time of 4:04:47

More than 3,600 triathletes were expected for Sunday’s IRONMAN 70.3 in Augusta, which included a 1.5-mile swim in the Savannah River, a 56-mile bicycle race in downtown Augusta and south Richmond County and a 13.6 mile run.

The event is the largest half IRONMAN in the world, according to the Augusta Sports Council’s website, and it has generated more than $25 million for the local economy since 2009. Also, more than $140,000 has been donated to local non-profits through the IRONMAN foundation.
