Prosecutors rested their nearly three-day case Wednesday in the murder trial of two men accused in the 2019 shooting death of Sanquan Sims.

Patrick Noble, 27, and Tony Darby, 28, are charged with killing Sims in the parking lot of the Magnolia Park apartments.

The jury reviewed reams of text messages, Facebook messages and cell phone records Wednesday that put the two suspects at the complex and in a dispute over the drugs Sims had sold Noble.

Deputy Richmond County Coroner Chris Langford, who investigated the case while serving with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, took jurors through the process of obtaining and reviewing Facebook messages of the men. They spoke of being “at the Nolia,” their name for the complex, and bickered about the makeup of the drugs, for which Noble wanted a refund.

Late Wednesday, attorney Peter Johnson called the first witness for the defense, a man who said he’d shared a cigarette with Nobles in his car and observed Sims wearing a gray bandana and pointing a gun at Noble.
