The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, and while no businesses received a failing score from March 4-8, two did get scores in the 70s.
America’s Best Value Inn, 441 Broad St., Augusta, received a score of 78. Inspector’s comments included: “replace stained linens, linens with cigarette burns” and “water temperatures from faucets in rooms must not exceed 120F; in building where office located, temperature was 180F-184F. Immediately turn down temperature to provide water at 120F or below.”
Other comment’s included: “provide copy of most recent gas inspection report on all gas fire equipment (water, heater, gas, dryers); inspection required annually (within last 12 months). Keep copy available at hotel for inspection,” “ice buckets must be free from residues. Must be washed, rinsed (in two or three compartment sink) and sanitized or single use bag provided (providing bag in rooms),” and “clean floors and chairs (replace if not cleanable or torn).”
The second lowest score was Studio 6 Augusta, 3421 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, and it received a score of 79. Inspector’s comments included: “water temperature from faucets must not exceed 120F,” “provide copy of gas fired equipment on DPH forms for two dryers and five water heaters,” “clean showers, walls in bathroom. Resurface showers not in cleanable condition,” “provide antislip finish or mats/appliques in showers,” “clean inside kitchen cabinets, bureaus. Repair broken drawers, cabinets,” and “clean soiled bed linens, clean bedframes and behind frames. Replace soiled linens/mattress covers/mattresses. Provide mattresses pads or covers on all beds, clean not less than weekly or as room vacated.”

Waffle House #226, 3042 Washington Road, Augusta, received the third lowest score. It was an 82. Inspector’s comments included: “observed no employee reporting agreements for any of the employee on shift at the time of inspection,” “observed raw chicken and raw pork stored in uncovered in RIC,” “observed brown buildup in corner of ice machine,” “observed expired milk (3/4/2024) and expired bread stored amongst in date food products,” “observed soiled wiping cloths left on countertops,” “observed expired test strips (2/2022) and no sanitizer in buckets,” and “observed several spills and debris throughout food prep area.”
