A body was discovered Thursday afternoon in a wooded area near the 1200 block of Interstate Parkway in Augusta, with the death being labeled “suspicious.”

The discovery was made around 2:24 p.m. Thursday when a surveyor team alerted deputies to the deceased male, according to Sgt. Walter McNeil Jr. with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. He had been dead for awhile, Coroner Mark Bowen said.
