Teen bystander in serious condition after being struck by vehicle

A 15-year-old is in serious condition after an early morning accident Tuesday.

Richmond County deputies responded to the intersection of Westview Avenue and Clark Street in reference to an accident involving two vehicles and a pedestrian at 8:34 a.m.

In a media release from Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. William McCarty said one vehicle was traveling south on Westview Avenue and the second was traveling east on Clark Street when the two collided.

The force of the collision sent one of the vehicles off the roadway and into the path of the 15-year-old, who was standing on the corner at the time. The teen was transported to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment.

Both drivers were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. No other details are available.
