Two homicides recorded early Sunday morning in Augusta

Two people were fatally shot in Augusta in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The first homicide took place at 10th and Broad Streets in downtown Augusta, where the victim was shot at least one time and pronounced dead on scene at 2:56 a.m. Sunday, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release.

Bowen identified the first victim as Logan Etterle, 21, of the 4700 block of Cobbham Road in Thomson. He was shot at least one time and pronounced dead on scene.

The second shooting occurred at 11th Avenue and Grand Boulevard near Carrie J. Mays Park where the victim was shot at least one time.  The victim was pronounced dead on scene at 4:03 a.m. Sunday, Bowen said.

The second victim was named as Jakwan Gunter, 19 years old of the 2000 block of Clark Street.

There is no indication the two homicides are connected, and no arrests have been announced.
