The Biden/Harris administration has made a bold attack on parenthood with a new Surgeon General advisory. The measure was undertaken with the dual purpose or imposing government control on the family unit and charging families for the pleasure of its intervention.
For thousands of years, women have been having babies. Regardless of what the world says today, every single one of those babies was born of a woman from a man’s sperm and woman’s egg. The resulting babies caused their parents’ stress. That stress has always stemmed from financial, health, safety and developmental concerns. This is not new information to anyone who has children.
Parents Under Pressure by augustapress on Scribd
Most adults want to get married and have children. That is the first step to what is considered a “normal life.” I have yet to meet anyone who wants more governmental involvement in their family.
For decades, the traditional family unit has been under attack from governmental and societal influences. Television portrays fathers as idiots, disrespects parents as the norm, and single parenthood is praised as acceptable and even preferred. Government-run public schools, daycares and social media have become the primary influencers on children as opposed to parents.
Parents have ceded control and influence of their family over to the government. The government now wants more control and is going to use “mental health” as the vehicle to obtain it.
The 36 page advisory is titled “Parents Under Pressure – The U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory on the Mental Health & Well-Being of Parents.” Their solution to the problem is not surprising: spend more money and take more freedom away.
It does not take a village
“Something has to change. Supporting parents and caregivers will require a series of thoughtful policy changes and expanded community programs that will help ensure parents and caregivers can get time off to be with a sick child, secure affordable child care, access reliable mental health care, and benefit from places and initiatives that support social connection and community….It will also require us to rethink cultural norms around parenting,” the report says.
This flowery language is designed to sound positive, but the reality is that it is a call to action to take more of parents’ freedoms away and charge them for the benefit. Phrases like “policy change,” “expanded community programs,” “affordable child care,” “mental health care,” “social connection and community” are all calls to spend more tax payer money. Ironically the report indicates social connection as being a mental health catalyst.
“…society as a whole must see itself as sharing in this responsibility (raising children) and shaping policy, programs, and individual behavior accordingly.”
The only real solution to the crisis in families is for parents to be around more, in particular in the formative years. Unfortunately, most households choose to have both spouses work, resulting in children getting carted off to government-run schools. Parents feed the kids, get them dressed and to the bus. After school, they take them to some type of extracurricular activity that sucks up a bunch of the family’s time. If they eat dinner together, they are lucky. After dinner, kids have homework and chores. There is very little one-on-one interaction between parents and children today.
Government schools have more influence over how children turn out than parents, and that is how the government wants it.
If people are curious about why the U.S. is in the mess it is today, it is because children have not been raised properly for several generations. Liberalism is running rampant while conservative family values are under attack. Radical ideologies are embraced by children because it is what the majority of public schools teach. If that isn’t bad enough, some college campuses indoctrinate young adults into their socialist thinking, eradicating any prospect of traditional values that the parents may have attempted to install in their children those five hours a week they saw them.
Morally, the country is bankrupt, even in the Bible belt southern states. Parents rely on a weak American church system to teach morals to their children for two to three hours per week while failing to set a good example at home or teach biblical principles to their children. And parents wonder why when they send sweet little Jim Smith to college they get alcoholic, drug addicted, promiscuous, liberal Jim Belushi back.
The Surgeon General wants you to believe that parenting is creating a “public health issue” that warrants raising and spending billions of dollars to solve. More government spending and involvement is never going to solve the issue.
Family Structure
As would be expected the report puts an emphasis on challenges faced by same-sex couples, cohabitating partner families, LGBTQ-parent families and non-binary parent families, whatever that is.
Does society really need a 36-page report to tell them that these types of “family structures” have extra challenges?
These non-traditional “family structures,” as the report calls them, are doomed for failure. Anything outside of the traditional structure of a man/father and woman/mother raising their children will have more problems.
If the adults in the “family structure” are confused about their gender or what constitutes a “normal” family structure then the child is going to be raised confused thus exacerbating societies problems.
How the government wants to fix parents
“By taking steps to mitigate stress at every stage, we can decrease exposure to chronic or severe parental stress, empower parents to meet both the needs of their children and their own, and reduce the likelihood of mental health conditions. Doing so will not be simple. It will require effective policy, strengthened programs, and meaningful culture change. But it is essential to creating a society that better supports parents and caregivers, as well as their children and families,” the report says.
Reading between the lines, the government wants effective policy, strengthened programs and meaningful culture change which equates to more dollars being spent to control “every stage” of your family’s development.
The mantra of collective responsibility, community organizations, societal support through polices, and social service systems is rampant throughout the report.
Make no mistake, the government wants control over children. Controlling what they are being taught through public education is the easiest way to change the thought processes of society. Public education was not designed to help children to excel but to bring them to a minimum equal education level.
This advisory report will be used at some point to justify rampant spending in the name of parents’ mental health programs. Those programs are really designed to control the education and thought processes of the next generation in order to promote whatever social or political agenda that ruling class at that time has in mind. It is easy to see how this report could be a steppingstone towards population control and birth restrictions as well.
Other stupid things the report says
- Adults with children are stressed more than ones that don’t have children
- Children cause sleep “interruption”
- 77% of single parents experience loneliness
- 70% of parents say parenting is more difficult now than it was 20 years ago (how would the respondents know? They were not parents 20 years ago)
