The owner of a shuttered Evans restaurant and bar has more time to appeal a recent court ruling.

The Georgia Court of Appeals on Wednesday granted Stay. Social Tap and Table LLC a 30-day extension to file an appeal.

The two-year-old business lost its alcohol license after the Columbia County Commission determined in October it had not garnered more than 50% of gross sales from food, a county requirement.

Owner Renee Hajek, who said last month the venue was closing for good, did not return messages seeking comment.

Hajek hosted two drag shows around the time the county sought documentation of its sales. The Columbia County Economic Development Authority had given the company a $100,000 grant to incentivize development at Evans Towne Center.

Stay. Social sought a judge’s review of the county’s decision. Columbia County Superior Court Judge James Blanchard postponed the license revocation until the completed his review.

Last month, Blanchard ruled the county was in its rights to revoke Stay. Social’s alcohol license. He said the firm’s financial reports and a second set of reports did not show it met the food requirement. In addition, the venue failed to prove it is being treated differently than other venues, the ruling said.
