Some life will be coming back to the Jones Creek driving range.

The Practice Club at Jones Creek powered by Toptracer is scheduled to open Monday, April 3, said Andrew Brooks with Bond Golf Global which is building the facility. Jones Creek Golf Club closed in 2018, and Brooks’ company had been looking at investors to bring it back. After a lot of dead ends and working with the property owner, a decision was made about what next step to take.

“Let’s bring the academy back to life. Let’s take the golf practice facility, the academy, let’s bring that back to life,” Brooks said. “…it’s like anything, if we start to have customers and a customer base, that creates (revenue that you put back into the facility).”

The group was able to connect with Toptracer which will be powering the facility that will feature 16 bays, eight indoor and eight covered, along with two suites, Brooks said. Working with Toptracer means that every bay will have a screen, which will show stats from when a person hits the ball. There will also be a variety of games that people can play, similar to Top Golf. In fact, the facility will be just like Top Golf, but the main difference is the one in Jones Creek is a green grass facility, which means it’s on an actual golf course.

Bryan Hunt with Toptracer said the organization saw a good opportunity to work with the Practice Club at Jones Creek because of its desire to cultivate the game of golf throughout the community.

“As I got to know Andrew Brooks more once this project started, I could see the excitement he brought to each meeting on how impactful our technology will be in not only growing the game but giving the homeowners of Jones Creek a new form of entertainment and excitement,” Hunt said. “Toptracer helps improve golfers with their current game and brings new players to try golf for the first time. Andrew and his team are determined to bring Jones Creek Golf Course “back to life, and we couldn’t be happier to contribute in their efforts.”

There is also an app that people can use to keep track of their stats and build a portfolio of their game, which Brooks said is a good thing for those who are serious golfers. Besides the tech side of the facility, the other side will be a junior academy where young golfers can learn and practice the game, Brooks said.

By starting up the Practice Club, Brooks said he hopes that energy will bring people out and they can start looking at possibly bringing back the golf course.

“Being in Jones Creek being where it is, it’s a fabulous, great location, really good scene and the big picture is once, we call them buckets, once this bucket is performing, then the next bucket is the golf course,” Brooks said. “So the idea is to…juice it up a little bit and then concentrate on the next one which is to bring the golf course back into fruition as well.”

Once it opens on April 3, the facility will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to dusk, Brooks said. He added that not everything will be completed by the opening, but it will be open.

The Practice Club at Jones Creek powered by Toptracer is located at 4087 Hammonds Ferry Road in the Jones Creek subdivision. While the website is not active yet, Brooks said it will be. For information, contact 803-477-6824.
